Intel ups its game in Artificial Intelligence; takes it to Indian schools
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes more mainstream, technology companies such as Intel seems to latched on to the trend. Intel plans to launch several initiatives such as'AI for future workforce' and'AI for current workforce' by the end of this year with an aim to build skill-ready workforce, Shweta Khurana, senior director – Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), government partnerships and initiatives, global government affairs, Intel told FE Education Online. "AI for future workforce will cater to 18 years and above and AI for current workforce is for professionals with primary focus on women driven small and medium enterprises (SMEs)," Khurana said. The programme will be delivered virtually by an Intel certified coach. As per the company, the curriculum designed for AI for future workforce is technical; however; students does not require any prior domain knowledge. Furthermore, projects under the programme are focussed on industrial impacts such as common trade application, predictive maintenance, viral post protection, insurance fraud protection among others.
Railways to implement artificial intelligence, data analytics for better operational efficiency
The railways is set to go big with artificial intelligence and data analytics to improve its operational efficiency and has tied up with the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad to analyse the data generated by the national transporter, Railway Board Chairman V K Yadav said. He said the railways will set up a Centre for Excellence in this regard in the next three months. The Railway Board has taken a decision to appoint a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in every zonal railways whose mandate will be to keep track of emerging technologies in analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) and use it in the rail system, Yadav said. "We have passengers-related data, train operations-related data, freight data and even asset-related data. We want to analyse all this data with the help of AI and analytics and use it in our Passenger Reservation System (PRS), introduction of new trains and even predictive asset maintenance. We have tied up with the Indian School of Business (ISB) for this," he said.

With an imperative to empower the youngest minds of the country with the latest technologies, NITI Aayog, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) in collaboration with the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today launched an AI based Module rolled out for students in Indian schools. The AI-Base Module has been introduced with an objective for students to leverage the full potential of AIM's Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) and further empowers them to innovate and create valuable solutions benefiting societies at large. The module contains activities, videos and experiments that enable students to work through and learn the various concepts of AI. Sharing his thoughts, CEO, NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant said that India can add 1.3% to its GDP on an annual basis through the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence. "Indians can find solutions to the challenges of a shared connected zero emission world, improving learning outcomes, disease like tuberculosis, cancer etc. If we are able to find solutions to these challenges for the 1.3 billion people of India, we can find solutions for the 7.5 billion people of the world too," he said.

HYDERABAD: Indian School of Business (ISB) and Microsoft India Friday signed two pacts to create an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Digital Lab and launch a new executive programme dealing with AI. Titled Leading Business Transformation in the Age of AI at the B-School's campus here, it will improve AI skill sets in the country. ISB expects to see about 1,000 corporate executives undergoing the three-day non-technical programme in the next three to four years. Anant Maheshwari, president, Microsoft India, said AI was a game changer to drive new business models and transform today's businesses and workplaces. "With this coming together of ISB and Microsoft, it is a unique opportunity to increase the innovation with AI in businesses. Our new partnership with ISB will empower business leaders to increase their tech intensity and do more with AI," Maheshwari said.

Tech giant Microsoft and the Indian School of Business (ISB) on Friday announced that they have partnered to create an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Digital Lab, wherein the two organisations will collaborate in research. The research will use AI and Machine Learning (ML) to study relevant issues for business and public policy. In addition, they will introduce a new executive programme titled Leading Business Transformation in the Age of AI in October, which will equip business leaders with tools and strategies to transform their respective organisations into AI-driven organisations.
